Someone is coming home!!!

A big hello to everyone just getting to work on this fine Monday morning. What a busy week and weekend its been. I don’t even know where I left off in the last blog. This one is gonna be down and dirty as I have a ton of stuff to do this morning and it was too late last night to start.

We will have a baby home this week so we’ve kind of been on a mad dash to finish getting things prepared at home. The nursery is complete as of last night. Walls are painted. Thanks Oma and Opa for the final touches there! Angela and I finished the wall border last night after Meredith went to bed. I got a blind up in the window; the curtain rod and the valance were hung too. Three of the beds are in place. The forth is in the garage awaiting some hard ware, but that’s not so time sensitive. The fifth one is gonna be delivered today from our friend Molly. It probably wouldn’t have been too big of a deal if some of the details weren’t complete at this time, but we’re gonna have a TV crew in our home early this morning and some things needed to be tip top, if you know what I mean. To spell any rumors right now…it’s NOT a reality show. I can be bought, but I don’t think that anyone has a checkbook that big.

Bet you’d like to know who’s coming home…you’re gonna have to wait and keep reading. Here are the latest reports on the kids. They’re all doing so well. All of them are back together again! Emma and Madeline were transferred over to Special Care over the weekend. Three of them are in the 5-pound club now. At this rate, they may be bigger than Meredith when we brought her home. We may not need too much preemie stuff (which is another blog topic all together that I will address very soon). I’m gonna mix it up a bit on their order for their status update.

Alex is the biggest in the group. He weighed in at 5 lbs., 10.5 oz. He’s getting to be chubby. He really does look like a boy. No real updates other than he is feeding by bottle and doing ok with it. Oh, I hear that he has an amazing scent to him…

Lauren is doing great too. Like Alex, she is feeding ok with the bottle, but it’s clear that she and her brother don’t have the skill set of their father while he was in college. She weighed in at 4 lbs., 11.5 oz.

Madeline is doing better with her feedings. She finished the last two bottles that she was given and she’s now part of the 5-pound club. She weighed in at 5 lbs., 3 oz. With that said, she had a breathing spell last night. That isn’t uncommon at all so it isn’t anything to worry about, but I can promise that she isn’t coming home this week as a result of that.

Emma is still the smallest, but she’s doing just fine. She is taking a bottle and doing ok with it. Like Lauren and Alex, she isn’t a pro, but doing well none the less. She weighed in today at 4 lbs., 2.5 oz. Like Madeline, she had a couple breathing spells last night. It’s clear that she isn’t coming home this week either.

So who’s left? Brooklyn was the first one born, so I guess it would make sense that she’s the first one to go home. She’s just killing it with her feedings. She is taking nearly double of what she is required to take by bottle. She has her final brain ultrasound today that all of them will get prior to discharge. She also has a car seat test scheduled for this afternoon. This test is to confirm that she can breathe while in the seat for a couple hours. She weighed in at 5 lbs., 1 oz. Unless there are complications somewhere along the road today or tomorrow, she will be home this week.

Alright, I have to wrap this up now. Meredith is up and sitting on my lap, just destroying my desk. Angela’s in the shower. Giggity Giggity. I’ll be back in touch very soon as I will be updating the “How to Help” page to focus on volunteering and to update our needs.

Until then…
